BADLY.

The Red Sox are now 2 games behind the Yankees in the AL East. They lost 2 of 3 against the Devil Rays and look to be struggling against the Royals.

The Sox could benefit from a win and maybe a little more time off. The Sox have great depth, but to an extent... You can only go so far before your entire AA team is in the majors... (joke).

Hopefully we will get to see Foulke, Wake and Clement back some time soon. They may not be super stars, but that will allow the roster to start returning to normal.

The Sox have seen 6 catchers this year: Varitek, Mirabelli, Lopez, Josh Bard, Ken Huckaby and Corky Miller. With the Red Sox reversing the Curse of the Bambino in their 2004 World Series victory, Yankees fans were silenced and the Sox, after coming so close time and time again, secured their first World Series victory in 86 years.

It's also a fairly well known fact that the Yankees suck harder than your dad's shop-vac, not so much in their game as their attitude and approach to the game (*stillinsecondplace!!cough!cough!*). Here's my main problem; with a seemingly bottomless budget, the Yanks are essentially able to buy up any prospect they come across, regardless of the price tag they might carry (Too bad they didn't get Papelbon, bitches!). But isn't that like hiring ringers to help your team win....? Yeah, kinda.

Case in point, there is no other organization in baseball with as rich a history and as passionate a fanbase as the Boston Red Sox/Sox Nation. Sorry Yankees fans, your team just doesn't measure up. While I can admit to their being some historic moments in your teams history, the Yankee suck-factor has nothing to do with their athletic ability. Pro-athletes are pro-athletes, period. And I have the upmost respect for the dsicipline it takes for a player to reach that level. However, I have no respect with how the Yankees have carried themselves in the last few seasons; the infamous bout at the mound between Pedro and Zimmer, A-Rod's bitch slapping the ball from Arroyo's glove, as well as his getting OWNED by Varitek while attempting to rush the mound...

Seldom will you see a Red Sox player instigate a bench clearing brawl, or attempt to argue plays like the ones A-Rod acted like such a cry-baby bitch over. Regardless of individual instances of 'who's-to-blame', one thing is certain; there exists a lot of bad blood between these two teams, and the only thing that can fuel a rivalry this long-standing is straight up bad attitude. Forget about curses and stats, this rivalry is all about pride and credibility. The Red Sox and Yankees are both renowned for their ability to play the game, and they both are out to prove that they are baseball's best. As long as there's baseball, this rivalry will never die.

Feel like venting about your favorite Yankee suck moment? Do it here, just post a comment!

Who will win big this season.....?

As the All-Star Break wraps up, a lot of fans have started making predictions about who will recieve the biggest props at the end of the season; Does Papi have the big bat to surpass the 50 HR mark? But seriously, WTF is up with JD's departure from Boston?! My biggest question is how much $$$ it took for the Yankees to convince him to join? Scratch that, I'd rather not know, a sellout is a sellout. That's not just bad blood talking, even JD's former team-mates (even those who have since been traded to other teams) think he made the wrong choice.

In a press conference prior to his return to Fenway, Pedro Martinez expressed his opinion on "defecting to NY". The rivalry between the NY Mets and Boston Red Sox has always been a friendly one in comparison to that between the Sox and Yankees. On his return to Fenway, Pedro said the following in an interview with NESN;

"It's been two years, and I still feel like they miss me. And it's a mutual feeling. I saw 86 years of agony for the fans here. They were here every day. That's why they have so much of my respect. Whatever they do, I believe they are going to do it for one reason, from their hearts. If they cheer for me, I'll be happy."

When asked about what his feelings were about Damon's decision to play for the Yankees, Martinez replied with a laugh and a smile; "He went to the wrong uniform. Thank God I didn't have to make the same mistake." While Damon played a vital role in the Sox's '04 victory over the Yankees, to clinch the AL East Championship, upon his return to Fenway, he was greeted by the sound of boo's and "Hey Damon! You SUCK!" Another famous Boston-to-New York defector, Roger Clemens experienced a similar "welcome back" when he was traded to the Yankees from Toronto during the '99 MLB season.

Damon joins Clemens and (Wade) Boggs on the list of all time WORST Yankees defectors. Who do YOU think should be lowest (highest?) on the Red Sox all time shit-list?
